Gases expand more than liquid and solids because the particles (molecules) are not closely packed rather they have a very less bond of attraction. Gases are having no fixed or particular shape or form so they are all around us whereas solids are having a fixed shape and it's predefined so without any extra applied efforts it can't be expanded.
So they expand more (take up more space) than solids or liquids.
