explain why generally only the male child suffers from the colour blindness and not female child ?

it is a recessive  sex linked disease  ie : x  linked

in female if both the allosomes ie: XX is homozygous in colour blindness then only the female child get affected

but in case of male child only X chromosome carries genes for colour vision

if the mother is homozygous to colour blindness then all her male child will be affected
