The British period in India is referred to as colonial because: A colonial period is the period in the history of a country when it was subject to government by a colonial power. Colonies are the countries under the control of other country. During that period, India was under the control of the British due to which it is known as colonial period .Also, there came about many changes during the britisher's rule over India.
