Metal tumbler and spoon:
- When spoon strikes tumbler, it produces vibration in tumbler.
- The quantity of sound heard is called as loudness. The vibration has amplitude of the sound.
- Loudness of the sound is proportional to square of amplitude of the vibration.
- So, when the vibration is weak, then the loudness is less and when the vibration is more, then the loudness is high.
- Loudness solely depends on amplitude and it is expressed with unit called decibel.
