The Indian Ocean is named after India because :
India holds a central location which is at the head of the Indian Ocean. In ancient time India was an important location in the Indian Ocean which was connected Europe with countries of southeast Asia. India also has the longest coastline in the region which no other countries have in the Indian Ocean.
