Explain why indigo was cultivated in India

indigo is a cash crop and cash crops reduce the fertility of the soil and no more crops can be grow. As a result the British grew indigo on Indian soil so that they could sell indigo and earn money and their home soil would also remain fertile

Indigo was firstly cultivated in America and Africa. It was brought in India Vy Britishers for their profits. It is still cultivated in India for the same reason that is to produce indigo dye which is bright in color.
