Explain why ionic compounds do not conduct electricity in solid states.

For conduction of electricity , there must be free electron or free radicals(ions).In solid state , those ionic compound do not dissociates into ions causing no conduction of electricity whereas in molten state they dissociates into ions causing conduction due to the free ions.
