explain why,iron pipes for carrying water coated with zinc

iron on contact with water and moisture leads to corrosion or rusting .zinc doesn't catches rust so it is over it

because if the iron comes into contact with water it starts corrosion but zinc doesn't corrose when comes into contact with watee so that they are coated with zinc to protect it from corrosions
