Explain why is Tukaram maharaj pride of India?

Ans.The Maratha is a Marathi caste subdivided into 96 clans. According to modern scholars, it was originally formed in the earlier centuries through assimilation of various peasant and pastoral communities in Maharashtra. Many of them took to military service in the 16th century for the Deccan sultanates. Later in the 17th and 18th centuries, they served in the armies of the Maratha empire, founded by Shivaji, a Maratha by caste. Many Marathas were granted hereditary fiefs by the Sultanates for their service.
