it is difficult to burn a piece of wood fresh from a tree because it contains moisture or water

there are two reasons for these those are -
1) the outer layer of trees are made up of cork (phellom) which is acts as an insulater this prevents the bark of the tree to burn but if the heat is increased then there are chances that that peice of wood might catch fire
2) As the fresh piece of wood contains some amount of moisture so to catch fire it would n9t get enough ignition temperature to catch fire
