Explain why it is difficult to wash clothes with soap when water is hard how do detergent help in overcoming this problem

It becomes difficult because the nature of hard water is salty and so it becomes sticky. Detergent will also won't be able to overcome the problem else it would increase as its effect is stronger than that of a soap.
