because there is an apparent loss in weight ,of the stone,in water

kumkumverma: please write in long
jessi12: alright
jessi12: wait for a while
kumkumverma: ok
jessi12: here's ur answer
jessi12: According to Archimedes principle, a body when immersed in a fluid shows an apparent loss of wieght which is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the body. So a heavy stone when under water, is acted upon by upthrust due to water , which ultimately reduces the true weight of the stone.
jessi12: is this fine

It is easier to lift stone in water because buoyant force cancels some amount of gravitational force and apparent weight that has to be lifted up by you decrease. Hence the stone feels to be lighter then before and easily lifted.
