The fact states that the smaller the area,the larger will be force (thrust) and thereby, a larger pressure. Pressure can be defined as Force per unit surface area or mathematically,
P= Force(thrust)/Area ....
Here P Force and P is inversely proportional to area.
Thus, flat shoes puts comparatively less pressure on soft ground as compared to heels with pointed edges.Also,smaller pointed surface of heels tapers the ground and penetrates it deep making it difficult to retrieve back from the soil and thus leading the unease.
