Lightning is an electric discharge from cloud which can travel through metallic rod of the umbrella. Thus, raising an umbrella during a thunderstorm is dangerous.

IT IS DANGEROUS TO RAISE AN UMBRELLA OVERHEAD IN A THUNDERSTORM BECAUSE THE TOP ROD OF THE UMBRELLA IS MADE UP OF METAL. METAL IS A GOOD CONDUCTOR OF ELECTRICITY FOR THE LIGHTNING CAUSED BY THUNDERSTORM MAYBE GET ATTRACTED BY THE METAL ROD OF UMBRELLA. THIS MAY HAVE A PERSON OR HE/SHE MAY GET SERIOUSLY INJURED.
