Explain why n-pentane has higher boiling point than neopentane

Answer:

In n-pentane, all the Carbon atoms are in straight chain.

But in neo-pentane, the carbon atoms are branched.

The branch needed more temperature than a longest continuous chain to melt.

Hence, n-pentane has higher boiling point than neo-pentane.
