PHYSICS

Friction

Answer:

Fluids refer to air and water. The objects moving in fluids are therefore subjected to fluid friction. In order to reduce to fluid friction exerted on the objects, they are given a special shape known as stream-lined shape.

Know More:

Streamlined Shape

A streamlined shape is required for a body moving through a fluid. Such objects has a tapering beginning and end with a broad middle.

Drag

Frictional force exerted by fluids is known as drag.

Examples of streamlined shape

Streamlined shape can be observed in aeroplanes and fishes that move in fluids.

The picture below shows the streamlined shape observed in fishes. Notice how they have tapering ends and a broad middle.

❥ The fluid is the name given to a substance which begins to flow when an external force is applied to it.

❥ Objects moving in fluids face the friction of the fluid that opposes their motion. So,object moving in fluids must have unique shapes called streamlined shapes to reduce the fluid friction.

\large{\boxed{\mathscr{\red{Notes :}}}} Streamline body is a body for which the drag force on objects moving in fluids is minimum.Streamline body represents a geometry for which the friction with fluid is low. It can simply defined as the geometry of a fish.
