Answer:
Explanation:
Patriliny is the system which helps us to trace the descent from father to son and grandson . The following are some of the reasons why patriliny was followed by the elite families.
1. According to Dharamashastras son was believed to carry the name of the dynasty forward so the families wished to have son rather than daughter.
2. As per this system, the sons was regarded as the claimant of the resources which also included the king`s throne in some case ( in case the king dies). Many royal families during 600 B.C. followed the principle patriliny. In certain cases where the king had no son the king`s brother was made the king. There were also instances where the relatives or the daughter ascended to the throne.
3. According to manusmriti it was stated that the eldest son would be entitled for a special share.
4. As mentioned in the mantras of Rigveda the elite families followed this principle to avoid possible conflict between the sons after the death of their father.
Hope this helps.
Answer:
During old days, elite families followed the rule of patriliny where son could inherit the father’s money after the death. According to this rule, son could claim for the father’s money and for the King’s throne after their death. According to this system, elder son could get the special share from father’s resources. In Dharamshastras, it was mentioned that only son could take their dynasty forward and not daughters. During ancient time, elite families prayed for the son to god.
