Explain why pencil will write on paper but not in glass

The paper support the enough friction and you put force on pencil so pencil's carbon core can be leaved on paper. Whereas glass possess a extremely smooth surface even you cannot leave any carbon core from pencil by your force merely. So a pencil will write on paper but not on glass.
