Although butane and propane comparable molecular masses (58 and 60 respectively) but in proponal ,polar ? OH group is present due to which intermolecular hydrogen bonding exist between its molecules. Whereas in butane weak van der Waals forces of attraction between the molecules . Therefore proponal has high boiling point (391k) as compared to that butane (309k)
