In potassium chloride
potassium acts cations and chloride acts as anion. Because of the complete
transfer of electrons from potassium ion to chloride ion...so it is an ionic or
electrovalent compound...... But in case of HCl there is the presence of
covalent bond that is there is the presence of sharing of electrons b/w
hydrogen and chlorine...
In
aqueous medium ionic compounds dissociate into ionic compounds conduct
electricity whereas HCl in aqueos medium dissociates into hydronium and
chloride ion due to strong attraction by lone pair of electron of oxygen atom
of water.
Hope this helps you.
