Explain why pressure on the first floor of a building os always less than pressure of water on the ground floor

So the height of the water in case of first floor would be greater than the ground floor. Gravity acts on the water pulling it towards earth. The water on the top also exerts its weight on the water below in increasing the pressure on the water below it. Thus the pressure below would be greater than the pressure above.
