First, Sheet erosion on slopes due to rainfall...which means removal of a sheet of soil

Second, Prolonged sheet erosion causes till erosion

Third, heavy rain and prolonged rill erosion causes gully erosion.

Sheets are not gullies

Rills are small gullies

Gullies are oversized

Thus rill is intermediate
