rusting of iron objects is faster in coastal areas because the atmosphere near coastal area is full of moisture but the surroundings of desert is not of moisture and as we know moisture causes rusting of iron that's why rusting of iron is faster in coastal areas.

Beacause when iron object gets contact with moisture the iron objects rust faster in coastal regions whereas in desert no more moisture is present so the iron gets rusted slowly in the desert.
The best way to get the iron not rusted, it should be painted or oiled
