Shivalik is lowermost range of Himalayas.

Its made up of unconsolidated sediments and found near river valleys which erodes soil and prone to landslides.

These sediments are more susceptible for downslope movement under force of gravity in rainy season.

Its located near boundary of tectonic plate and so its more prone to earthquake.

Ans. It is because of following reasons :

(i) Shivalik range is made up unconsolidated sediments, which are not compact and consolidated.

(ii) These sendiments, are more susceptible for downslope movement under the force of gravity in rainy season.
