sliding friction is less than static friction because in static friction we hv to kept on putting force of friction but in sliding friction only one time we hv to apply large quantity of force of friction so that object slides then,when it is sliding the force of friction between 2 surfaces decease and it slides easily thats why it is easy to apply sliding friction then static friction

friction comes into play when irrigraries present in the surface of two object in contact get interlocked each other sliding the time given for interlocking is very small hence interlocking is not strong therefore due to this reason sliding friction is less than static friction
