Explain why sodium chloride does not conduct electricity but in the molten state or in aqueous solution it is good conductor of electricity

It is because when sodium chloride is in solid state the electrostatic force between the molecules is high which does not allow it to break into ions. When sodium chloride is in the molten or aqueous state It's electrostatic force of attraction between the molecules is less and thus it easily break into ions to conduct electricity.
