solid have fixed shape bcz intermolecular force of attraction is high and intermolecular space is less. but in liquid and gas there is more intermolecular space than solid .
so solid have fixed shape but liquid and gas do not

the particles of matter of solid is tightly packed. there is no space between the particles of the solid matter .solids have a tendency to maintain their shape when subjected to outside force.
but in the liquid state particles move freely and have greater space between each other as compared to particles in the solid state.

therefore they have a fixed volume but undefinite shape.
gas have very freely and randomly moving at high speed particles
before they don't have neither shape nor volume
