Answer:

the force of attraction between molecules of solids is very high and molecules do not have space between them, so solids can't be compressed easily as compressibility is also low in solids except some solids like rubber band, sponge , etc..

Solids are hard because they have a very strong force of attraction and solids cannot be compressed because the molecules or particles of a solid do not moves or flows,they have a definite shape and volume. Though there are few solids that can be compressed known as Amorphous solids.
