When any object or body emerge in a liquid then those objects having density less than density of water will float on water surface whereas those bodies having densities greater than density of water will sink at the bottom .

Ex= When ice emerge in a liquid,it will float on the surface of water because density of ice is less than density of water whereas metal pins sink at the bottom. This is because density of metal pins is greater than density of water.
