Explain why some of the leaves may get detached from a tree if we vigorously shake its branches

it is because when we shake a tree the leaves remain in that position but the tree moves. so the leaves detaches from the tree

Because due to inertia of rest.The leaves are in state of rest with respect to tree so they posses inertia of rest.
