Answer:

Surat is famous for its cotton mills.

The main reason for its decline is the loss of markets and products because of the decline of the mughal empire.

Answer:

Surat was important sea port city of the Indian state of gujrat. It is also called gateway to mecca because many pilgrimage ships sailed to mecca from here. It is also famous for its gold lace bordered clothes also called zari work. it is also called Manchester of the east.

Surat began decline by the end of the 17th century because of loss of markets and production due to decline of mughal empire, control of sea routes by the Portuguese and competition from Mumbai.
