CO2 = There are two bond pair elctrons in CO2 but it has not any lone paired elctrons. According to VSEPR theory , if there are two bond paired electrons in an molecule then the shape will be linear as because its bond angle is 180 degree.

SO2 = There are two bond paired and one lone paired electrons in SO2 molecule ...accrding to vsepr thoery when there are threee electron pairs the shape should be trigonal ...but in case of SO2 there are 2 bond pair and 3 lone pair ...so its shape will be distorded from trigonalplaner and will take a bent shape.
