Explain why the coolant in a chemical or a nuclear plant (i.e., the liquid used to prevent the different parts of a plant from getting too hot) should have high specific heat.

A basic rule of thermodynamics is that amount of heat transferred to a body is proportional to its Specific heat. so, if specific heat of substance is higher it could absorb more heat itself thus preventing the different parts of a plant from getting too hot.

that's why the coolant in a chemical or nuclear plant should have high specific heat.
