explain why?? the first ionisation enthalpy of Mg is higher than than that of sodium on the other hand the second ionisation enthalpy is very much higher than that of magnesium

because the outermost orbital of Mg is fully filled, thus have high first ionisation enthalpy.

because after removal of an e −

Na, has completely filled outermost electronic configuration from which removing an - ebecomes tough. Hence IE 2 of Na is higher than Mg
