Frequency of irrigation of crops is higher in summers as water evaporates thru transpiration process as well as thru soil pores so evaporation is at faster rate hence it is required to overcome the loss of water.
Hope this helps

Due to water loss from transpiration is the right answer.

In summer, the frequency of irrigation of crop increases as the rate of evaporation from the soil and leaves becomes higher. The time and frequency of irrigation diversify from season to season, crop to crop and soil to soil. As a result, the frequency of irrigation increases in summer season and decreases in the winter season.
