In Konkan area, after the kharif harvest is cut, the fields have to be fertilized and made ready for the rabi harvest. Dhangar flocks manure the fields and feed on the stubble. The Konkani peasants also give supplies of rice which the shepherds take back to their place where grain is scarce. This way both are mutually benefited.

HERE IS YOUR ANSWER ☺☺
The dhangars lived in the arid regions of Maharashtra . During summer , since there was nothing to lean upon for survival , they marched to the Konkani village .
There the Konkani peasants welcomed them because the cattle of the dhangars helped in manuring their fields . Since they were helped by the dhangars they welcomed them and in return gave them their crop yields for their return journey during rainy season .
