See, we know that velocity is a vector quantity. Speed is a scalar so it only has a magnitude. But velocity is speed with direction. So, in a circular path, the magnitude of the velocity(speed) remains contant but the direction is continuously changing. And acceleration is defined as the rate of change in velocity. So, changing velocity ,means that the body is experiencing accelration.

1. centripetal acceleration is responsible for the change in direction

2. tangential acceleration. is responsible for the change in speed

Thus a body is moving with constant speed , but its direction is changing continuously

so thats why ,it is said accelerated
