the solid cannot be separated from the solution by filtration because it is not possible for the filter paper to separate the solute

its because the size of the solute particles is much smaller than the pores of the filter paper . it is a condition for a solution to have the size of solute particles to be lesser than a particular value that can easily pass through the filter paper.
If the size increases it will get stuck in the filter paper but that becomes a colloid and not solution . colloids appear homogeneous but they are not .
