EXPLANATION :wind currents are generated due to uneven heating of the earth. The region around the equator are heated by direct rays of the sun the air in this region gets heated up and rises and the cooler from the surrounding region moves in. The wind blows from North and South towards equator. The region around the North and South are colder because they get slanting rays of sun.

Its related to planetary winds. In tropical region, trade winds flow from east to west. With these winds, the upper water leyer of the Eastern part of ocean also moves towards West.
