Explain why there is no rise in temperature of a substance when it undergoes a change of state through heat is supplied continuosly

Because at that time the substance is taking latent heat to change its state

water boils at 100 °c. Even after sometime, the temperature will be the same only. Because, once they reach boiling temperature, then heat provided is consumed to break the bonds between the molecules. Only one the bonds are broken , the water can change its state from liquid to gas
