Explain why water is a liquid at room temperature and carbon dioxide is a gas

water is liquid at room temperature because the melting point of water is 0 ℃ and boiling point is 100℃ and in case of carbon dioxide both the points are below 0℃this shows that the inter particle forces are not much strong in carbon dioxide, they are very loose, therefore it exists as a gas at room temperature.
