Answer:

Suppose I have some object to work with ; Let's say Object A, B, C, D.

Now let's say you want to work with A and B as to know what forces they apply on each other, but C and D are also there to interfere, they cannot be just simple removed from the calculations. ( explains why do we use it)

Hence we will take A and B as our system to work with, it can be anything ; literally. You can take only C as your system or D and A as your system or you can take three of them as your system or you can take all of them as your system. ( explains how we use it)

When you take a system you are implying that no other forces are acting on the bodies which you have taken as your system except those forces exerted by the system of bodies you choose.

(This topic isn't very hard to digest and even so it seems so simple it has a significant role in physics and chemistry. Usually questions don't mention to choose system, what they provide is taken as your system , like removing air resistance from the question can be considered as taking rest as a system and excluding air resistance from it)
