Pressure= Force /Area
(pressure is inversely proportional to area)
hence, when you're standing on cushion then the area in contact with the cushion( i.e. the area of the foot) is much less then when you lie down(i.e area of your whole one side of the body).....
So as area is inversely proportional to pressure
So.. in 1st case as area is less implies pressure will be more and thus depression will be more....
but in the case when you lie down ..area of contact increases and thus pressure will decrease ( in comparison to the 1st case). . thus as pressure decreases.... so depression also decreases...
hope it helps....
