HI. JUST USE LOGIC MATE.

Xylem conducts water and minerals from the roots to the aerial parts of the    plant . So it will naturally go in only one direction that is upwards i.e. unidirectional conduction of water and minerals.

Phloem conducts food in the form of sucrose and aminoacids and other substances made by the leaves towards the roots as well as to the apical part of the plants that is the apical buds since both the tissues need to grow.

Hope you understand.
