Explain why you hold on tightly when a bus it starts to move

A person standing in a bus falls backwards when bus suddenly starts moving in forward direction. This happens because when bus starts moving forward, lower part of the person begin to move with the bus whereas the upper part of the body tends to remain in rest due to inertia.
