 \huge \mathfrak \blue{procedure - }

1. Take a thermocole sheet and fix two thin sticks of height 1 cm.

2. Join the two sticks with the help of copper wire.

3. Take a battery, tapkey and connect them in series with the copper wire which is thin. .

4. Keep a marine compass needle beneath the wire.

If you press the tapkey, current flows in the copper wire.

5. Immediately the magnetic needle gets deflected.

This indicates that the magnetic field is increased when current flows through the conductor.

Experiment to demonstrate a magnetic field around current carrying straight line

We have a vertical thick insulated copper wire passing vertically through a horizontally placed cardboard . Connect the two ends of the wire to the terminals of a battery . Inorder to find out the magnetic pattern , we sprinkle some iron fillings on top of the cardboard and tap the cardboard gently . The iron fillings get magnetised and arrange themselves in concentric circles around the current carrying wire . Inorder to find out the direction of the magnetic field placed a compass on the cardboard and the direction in which the north pole points will give the direction of the magnetic field .
