Nuclear transmutation is the change of one chemical element to another due to change in the number of protons or neutrons in a nucleus.
Example-
Natural decay of potassium-40 to argon-40
Artificial radioactivity is the process of activating a stable element through radiation. The difference between the two is that, in artificial transmutation, the new element formed is not necessarily radioactive while in artificial radioactivity, the new element has to be radioactive.
