We have two genes which are recessive or dominant which come from our parents. When one gene is dominant, the child inherit the trait from that gene. But if both the genes are recessive then child will show that character ,which is shown in our body like attachment of ear lobes is a example of recessive trait whereas free earlobe is an example of dominant trait.
