Step by step explanation :-

We need to explain with example that how to find the other 2 roots of the quadratic equation if 1 root is given . So for this let us take a quadratic equation . say x² - x - 6.

We know that one root of this quadratic equation is x = (3)

With respect to Standard form , ax² + bx + c = 0 .

Here ,

  • a = 1
  • b = (-1)
  • c = (-6)

And we know the relation between the roots and the co-efficients of quadratic equation as ,

\large\boxed{\red{\bf \purple{\mapsto} \: Sum \  of \ roots = \dfrac{-b}{a}}}

\large\boxed{\red{\bf \purple{\mapsto} \: Product \  of \ roots = \dfrac{c}{a}}}

And here we know one root as 3 .Hence on substituting respective values in the above formula we can find the second root.

Therefore we can find the other root .
