Explain with example why cations are smaller and anions are larger

Cations are always smaller than their parent atoms this is because they have lesser electrons, while their nuclear charge remains the same. The remaining electrons are, therefore held more tightly by the protons in the nucleus and thus their radii are smallerthan the parent atoms. This is opposite in case of anions.

Cations are smaller than their parent atom as it losses electrons which decreases electron gain enthalpy and size of orbital decrases whereas anion gains an electron which increases electron gain enthalpy and increases the size of orbital. Eg Na+ for cation and CL for anion. Plz mark me brainlist
